War and Subterfuge
Long ago, the continent known as the Farlands was uninhabited by any humans, elves, dwarves, or other such humanoids. It was a wild land, home to monsters and animals. A mere 300 years ago, two human families, the Dapreeves and the Rhons sailed to this land to form a new country. United together, they believed there would be no trial they couldn’t overcome. Two hundred years later, working together, the two families had founded villages, towns, cities; an entire kingdom…without a king. The problem came when the two heads of the families decided this new country needed some form of single ruler. Since each wanted such power given to their own family, arguments and eventually violence broke out between the two. Followers, people who had moved to this new nation, picked sides and finally a war erupted. They fought for many years until finally the Rhons and their supporters, were pushed into the Endless Desert. Without food, water or any other supplies, they were sent there to die. Somehow, however, they did not die. Many crossed the desert and found a land of rock, near-barren of life. There they founded their own nation. This was known as the Great Dividing. And so it remained, for decades, in an uneasy truce with its neighbour.
One year ago, the peace was suddenly broken. Rhonian soldiers began to emerge from the desert and attack Dapreevan towns. The advantages the Dapreeves had years ago, their natural skills in battle, were overpowered by the sheer numbers of the Rhonian armies, as well as their incredible large-scale organisation. It would seem that this war cannot be won through the usual war tactics…
